GoHighLevel for Med Spas: Pros, Cons and the Right GoHighLevel Alternative

GoHighLevel is a capable, low-cost marketing layer for med spas, but it does not chart treatments. Here is when to keep it and which alternative fits, with pricing as listed on October 27, 2026.

GoHighLevel is a strong, low-cost marketing and follow-up layer for med spas (CRM pipelines, SMS and email, funnels, booking calendars, reviews) starting at $97 per month as listed on October 27, 2026, but it was built for agencies and does not chart treatments or run a clinical record. Pick a GoHighLevel alternative when you need one system for booking, charting and memberships (a practice platform such as Zenoti) or a lead CRM made specifically for ad-driven aesthetic practices (such as Palyri); keep GHL when an agency already runs it well for you.

The rest of this page backs that answer up: what GHL genuinely does well, what each plan costs per year, where the documented gaps sit, and a 10-criterion table that puts GHL next to one practice platform and one lead CRM. Every GHL fact below comes from the vendor's own pricing page, checked on October 27, 2026.

Is GoHighLevel good for med spas?

Yes, for the marketing half of the business. GHL bundles the tools a med spa uses to turn ad clicks and website visitors into booked consults: a CRM with pipelines, two-way SMS and email, automated workflows, forms and quizzes, booking calendars and review requests. The pricing page offers a free 14-day trial on any plan and states "Unlimited contacts, unlimited Users" on every tier.

$97/mo Starter plan price

Unlimited contacts and users

It is less suited to the clinical half. Nothing in the listed feature set covers treatment charting, consent forms tied to a chart, injectable lot tracking or a medical record. Those live in an EMR or a practice platform, so a med spa on GHL almost always runs a second system next to it.

Who it fits best:

  • A practice whose marketing agency already builds and maintains its GHL account.
  • An owner comfortable configuring workflows, or willing to pay someone who is.
  • A med spa that already has a booking and charting system it is happy with and only needs the marketing layer on top.

What GoHighLevel does well for a med spa

Credit where it is due. The feature list on the GHL pricing page is long, and most of it is directly useful to a med spa front desk:

  • CRM & Pipelines: every lead lands as a contact and moves through stages you define, such as New lead, Contacted, Consult booked, Treated.
  • Email + SMS Marketing and Unified Conversations: texts, emails and other messages in one inbox, so the front desk replies from one screen.
  • Workflow Automation: follow-up sequences, appointment reminders and re-engagement messages that run without anyone pressing send.
  • Booking Calendars: patients can pick a consult slot from a link or a funnel page.
  • Forms, Surveys & Quizzes: intake forms and treatment-finder quizzes that feed straight into the CRM.
  • Online Reputation Management and Reviews AI: review requests after a visit and AI review tools (usage charges apply).
  • Website & Funnel Builder and Ad Manager: landing pages for a single treatment offer, plus ad management from the same account.
  • Payments & Invoicing: collect deposits or invoices inside the platform.
  • Conversation AI and Voice AI: AI that answers chats and calls (marked with an asterisk, meaning usage charges apply).
  • HighLevel mobile app: owners and staff can reply to leads from a phone.
  • 24/7 support and Snapshots: the page lists 24/7 Support on Starter and a "Snapshot" library of pre-built industry accounts (its examples are Real Estate, Dentists and Gyms; med spa is not named).
💡
Where GHL is genuinely strong Breadth at a flat price. Unlimited contacts and unlimited users on every plan means adding a new injector or front desk hire does not raise your subscription, and one login covers funnels, texting, booking links, reviews and automation.

For a med spa that currently stitches together a website builder, a texting tool, an email tool and a review app, consolidating into GHL can be a real simplification. That is the honest case for staying.

How much does GoHighLevel cost? (pricing as listed on October 27, 2026)

GHL publishes three self-serve plans. The figures below are copied from the GoHighLevel pricing page as listed on October 27, 2026.

PlanMonthly billingAnnual billingWhat the page highlights
Starter (Agency Starter in the page FAQ)$97/month$970/year"Perfect for smaller businesses and solo marketers": 3 Sub-Accounts, Unlimited Contacts, Unlimited Users, 24/7 Support
Unlimited$297/month$2,970/yearUnlimited Sub-Accounts, Rebill Phone & Email (no markup), Basic API Access
Agency Pro$497/month$4,970/year"Ideal for SaaSPRENEURs & Agencies looking to go SaaS": SaaS Mode, Automated Sub-Account Creation, Rebill Phone & Email with Markup, Advanced API Access
Enterprise tierNo public price (quote only)Dedicated Customer Success Manager, Premium Support, Quarterly Business Reviews, White Label Mobile App

Three things the table does not show:

  1. Usage charges are extra. The page marks Email + SMS Marketing, calling, Conversation AI, Voice AI and Reviews AI with "*Usage based charges apply." Per-message and per-minute rates sit in GHL's usage pricing guide. We do not quote them here, so check them against your own monthly text volume.
  2. The upper plans are reseller tools. Unlimited sub-accounts, rebilling with markup and SaaS Mode let an agency resell GHL to many clients. A single-location med spa typically has no use for them. The page's FAQ says Starter's 3 sub-accounts make it "perfect for a single business owner or a new agency". Whether one sub-account per location works for you is worth confirming with GHL.
  3. Optional add-ons cost extra. The pricing page lists optional add-ons and states "Competitive additional charges apply for these features"; prices are not on the main plan table.

Example (our math from the listed prices): annual billing equals 10 monthly payments, so paying yearly saves two months on every plan.

  • Starter: $97 x 12 = $1,164 per year billed monthly, vs $970 billed annually. Saving: $194.
  • Unlimited: $297 x 12 = $3,564 vs $2,970. Saving: $594.
  • Agency Pro: $497 x 12 = $5,964 vs $4,970. Saving: $994.

GoHighLevel cons for med spas: where the gaps are

These are documented gaps, based on what the vendor page lists and how its plans are structured. They are not complaints about quality.

GapWhat the vendor page showsWhat it means for a med spa
Agency-first designPlans are built around sub-accounts, rebilling and SaaS ModeMany menus and settings exist for resellers, not for a front desk
Variable monthly bill"*Usage based charges apply" on SMS, email, calling and AIThe subscription is fixed; texting and AI costs scale with volume
No clinical recordCharting, EMR or treatment records are not in the listed feature setYou still need a separate system for charts and consents
Setup is on youAn all-in-one toolkit, with pipelines and workflows you configure; Snapshots of pre-built accounts exist, but none is named for med spas on the pricing pageResults depend on who builds it: you, staff or an agency
⚠️
Read reviews at the source Some blog posts quote star ratings or survey percentages for GHL that are dated or not traceable to a primary source. Read current user reviews directly on G2 or Capterra and filter for healthcare and med spa reviewers.

The setup point deserves one more line. GHL ships as a set of building blocks, not as a med spa template. If the person who built your workflows leaves, or the agency relationship ends, the knowledge of how your follow-up actually works can leave with them. Ask for documentation of every active workflow before that happens.

GoHighLevel alternatives: three kinds of tools

"GoHighLevel alternative" is not one category. Search results mix three different kinds of software, and comparing across categories is how practices end up buying the wrong thing.

GoHighLevel alternative categories for med spas mapped to patient journey steps: marketing layer, lead CRM, practice platform
Which kind of tool covers which step of the med spa patient journey. Source: vendor pages, as listed on October 27, 2026.

1. Marketing layer. GHL itself and general marketing suites. Broad toolkits for funnels, texting, email and automation that you configure for your business. Strength: breadth and price. Limit: no clinical side, and nothing is pre-shaped for aesthetics.

2. Lead CRM for ad-driven aesthetic practices. This is where Palyri sits. It is a CRM and lead pipeline for aesthetic clinics: Meta lead ads flow into a pipeline, the front desk follows up, and the lead becomes a booked visit. It also provides an embeddable website lead form with Meta Conversions API attribution, sends a Meta CAPI "Schedule" event when a patient pays a deposit, runs SMS and email campaigns with segmentation and A/B-tested templates, automation sequences (follow-up, birthday, reactivation), review requests after visits, vouchers and coupons, quiz funnels, a Telegram lead bot, a Clinic Pulse digest and a visit outcome form that records objections. It is not an EMR, has no booking engine of its own (it embeds a third-party booking widget) and does not process payments. Details are on the page for the lead CRM for aesthetic clinics.

3. Practice platform with booking, charting and memberships. Zenoti describes itself as "a complete medspa platform where marketing, booking, clinical charting, memberships, and payments run from one patient record", and states that "Injectable units deduct from inventory when the provider charts." Other platforms in this group (Boulevard, Mangomint, Aesthetic Record, PatientNow, Pabau) are reviewed in our best med spa software compared guide.

ℹ️
Two systems is normal Many med spas run a practice platform or EMR for the clinical day plus a marketing or lead layer on top. The real question is which layer is missing or weak in your practice right now.

Which should your med spa choose?

Match the tool to the problem you actually have, not to the longest feature list.

Your situationRecommendation

🔑
7 questions before you switch
  1. Does the new tool connect to your current EMR and booking system, or will staff copy data by hand?
  2. Who will build and maintain workflows: you, a staff member, the vendor or an agency?
  3. What will usage charges and add-ons cost at your real monthly SMS, email and call volume?
  4. Can you export every contact, conversation and tag from your current system before cancelling?
  5. How many locations do you run today, and how many in two years?
  6. Do you need reselling or white-label features, or are you paying for agency tools you will never use?
  7. Which plan will you trial, and what result in the trial period decides yes or no?

FAQ

Is GoHighLevel good for med spas?

For marketing, yes. GHL gives a med spa CRM pipelines, SMS and email, workflow automation, booking calendars, quizzes, review requests and a funnel builder, starting at $97 per month on the Starter plan as listed on the GoHighLevel pricing page on October 27, 2026. It does not cover the clinical side: charting and treatment records are not in its listed features. Most med spas on GHL pair it with an EMR or practice platform. It works best when someone, staff or an agency, owns the setup.

How much does GoHighLevel cost per month for a med spa?

As listed on October 27, 2026, GHL costs $97 per month (Starter), $297 per month (Unlimited) or $497 per month (Agency Pro), with annual prices of $970, $2,970 and $4,970. A single-location med spa usually only needs Starter, which includes 3 sub-accounts. Paying annually saves $194 a year on Starter by our math. Budget extra for usage-based charges on texts, emails, calls and AI, which GHL bills separately, and for optional add-ons, which carry additional charges. The enterprise tier has no public price.

Can GoHighLevel replace my EMR or booking software?

It can replace basic booking, because GHL lists Booking Calendars among its features. It cannot replace an EMR: clinical charting, treatment records and injectable inventory are not in its listed feature set. If you want booking, charting, memberships and payments in one record, look at a practice platform; our best med spa software compared guide covers six of them. Many practices keep their EMR and use GHL only for marketing and follow-up.

Why is GoHighLevel built for agencies?

Its plans are organized around sub-accounts, the unit an agency uses for each client. The Unlimited plan adds unlimited sub-accounts and rebilling of phone and email; the Agency Pro plan is described on the pricing page as "Ideal for SaaSPRENEURs & Agencies looking to go SaaS" and adds SaaS Mode for reselling. A single med spa can use the platform directly, but it will see many reseller settings it does not need.

What is the best GoHighLevel alternative for a med spa?

It depends on the gap. If you want one system for booking, charting, memberships and payments, choose a practice platform such as Zenoti or a peer. If the problem is ad leads that go cold before they book, a lead CRM built for aesthetic practices fits better; Palyri is one, covered on the lead CRM for aesthetic clinics page. If an agency already runs GHL well for you, keeping it is often the right call.

Can I use GoHighLevel alongside another system?

Yes, and many med spas do. A common setup is a practice platform or EMR for charts, appointments and payments, with GHL handling funnels, texting, follow-up and reviews. The cost is two subscriptions and keeping contact data consistent between them, so check integrations before you commit. GHL's Unlimited plan lists Basic API Access and Agency Pro Advanced API Access, which matters if you plan a custom connection. Our guide on how to choose a CRM for aesthetic clinics covers integration questions in more detail.
